Poem Not About A Train
by Douglas Robert Turek
You have no train ticket, nor I money for cab
I can wring no poem of fond transportation
But hopefully sidewalks and feet are enough
To marry our disparate locations
.
You walk til you’re tired, I will do the same
Then rest, and we’ll start over again
I hope we don’t pass each other on the way
And I hope that it won’t also rain
.
If we are exhausted when finally we see
Each other heading in us-wise directions
Maybe we’ll trudge toward a long awaited kiss
And collapse in a heap of affection
