Seriously!
If anyone ever in their lives works in any capacity to oversee email mailing lists or knows anyone who does, remember that there are few things as annoying as signing a petition or two with one organization only to find yourself the recipient of a dozen daily emails from organizations with whom you have nothing to do with. I’ve signed petitions with change.org and I end up getting all these weird emails that address me as a ‘MoveOn Member’, ‘Dream Activist’, and ‘DCCC Supporter’. For goodness sakes, I am none of those things! Are these people morons? At this point, my politics are based on my principles, but with enough spam, I could find myself backing even an idiotic fascist if they based their campaign around a ‘No Spam’ platform.
In conclusion, don’t ever do any good in the world if it requires an email address to do it.

When the tsunami hit Japan I donated a good amount of money and unchecked all the newsletter boxes. I still get mails from them every week.
