Peter Zaremba of The Fleshtones
I really liked The Fleshtones. I have to get everything and anything I can by them (what I have is on vinyl and I’m not sure where all of that is these days). I met Peter Zaremba of The Fleshtones at a college radio conference in New York City in 1987. A group of us from WFCS radio (from Central Connecticut State University) stood in line together to get his autograph and when we got up to his table, he asked us where we were from. We said New Britain, Connecticut. His face lit up and he said, “Wow, New Britain! There’s a lot of cool Polish people from New Britain!” We were stunned that he’d ever even heard of our town, much less knew about its vibrant Polish community. He was a really nice guy. We got our autographs, too. Of the famous and semi-famous people I’ve met, he impressed me the most as being a genuinely nice guy.
